Mobile Applications Team Lead

We are looking for a passionate, proactive and motivated Technical Team Leader to join a highly-skilled development & consultancy team working on the delivery of mobile application products that are a key part of the company’s mobile workforce solution.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivery of mobile workflows using Cognito iQ’s cross-platform application development framework, using a mix of JavaScript, HTML, CSS & XML technologies. The role involves leading a team of software developers and QA staff, as well as supporting a number of consultancy and sales-based activities.

The ideal candidate would be a keen mobile technologist with a proven track record of delivering high-quality applications preferably on mobile devices. Excellent communication and team leading skills are paramount, as is the ability to commit and deliver to demanding business deadlines.

Software Developer - 13-month Placement

Working on customer and internal projects in an agile development environment, during your Software Developer placement you’ll be involved in the design and development of high quality, commercially focused business applications, systems, and system extensions; experiencing the full product lifecycle.

Depending on what team you will join you’ll be working with the following technologies; it would be an advantage for you to have some knowledge of:

  • OO Principles
  • Java/JEE or C#/C++ or Python
  • Javascript and popular JS Frameworks
  • An understanding of Public Cloud Technologies
  • Agile development

It's a bonus if you have some work experience from a year out, holiday or part-time work, but in all cases, we’ll be looking for people with a passion for our technology and the hunger to learn. Of equal importance to your technical knowledge are your communication and problem-solving skills and your focus on achieving results.

Network/Operations Engineer - 13-month Placement

You can be sure that your placement year will be spent working alongside our highly-skilled Engineers working on, and maintaining, critical customer networks.  You’ll develop scripts and use network monitoring tools in order to maintain and enhance our network management systems, as well as investigating and resolving issues raised by our alarm systems.

You’ll work to maximise service levels for the Cognito network by regularly measuring and reporting progress and activity. You’ll also be involved, hands-on, in the delivery of business-critical internal and customer projects as required.  Excellent team-working skills will be vital as you will be required to work closely with support teams in order to successfully set-up customer connections and fix customer issues.

For our network engineer placements knowledge of networking fundamentals and some of the following technologies is ideal:

  • Linux/Unix
  • Cisco
  • VMware
  • MYSQL & MS SQL Databases
  • JEE (JBoss)
