Because all the applications are now in and, in January, we get to interview and select the students who will become our next Industrial Placement (IP) employees in the summer of 2019.
When do you start preparing for the festive season? When you see the first displays in the stores? When the big retailers release their Christmas advertising campaigns? When the Black Friday promotions arrive in your inbox? Or are you one of the many who leave it as late as possible, then hit the high street in a panic on December 24th? Whether you love or loathe seeing Christmas crackers on display in August, spare a thought for those of us who work in or with the retail logistics industry. For most people, memories of Christmas 2017 are fading, as we look forward to lighter evenings and make plans for summer holidays. But, for those of us who work in retail logistics, Christmas is never far from our thoughts. February is the time to reflect on performance in the previous year, to analyse delivery data, examine industry trends and start preparing for this year’s festive shopping season. Our customer, Hermes, fresh from an incredibly successful 2017 delivery period is doing just that.
